This new build was completed in just over 12 months and forms part of our ongoing relationship with Wests and the Newcastle Knights. Designed to support the development of juniors and pathway athletes, the boarding house provides high-quality accommodation in a purpose-built, functional environment.
The layout includes 10 bedrooms, two sitting rooms, a multimedia room, carers suite, main kitchen and living areas, laundry, five car garage and a central courtyard complete with basketball hoop and BBQ facilities, creating a space that supports both performance and community.
Although the team came up against some unforgiving weather during the groundwork’s stages, they managed to push through and complete a complex but eye-catching build. Some highlights included the detailed lightweight structure and fire rating requirements, the second storey façade with seamless turndowns and curved sections and the detailed brickwork throughout, from corbelling across the building to curved brick walls and feature hit and miss brickwork fencing, all finished with a carefully considered mix of materials and textures.
